Poses by angle

Front View Pose Reference

98 poses

Every pose in the library seen straight from the front. Front views show symmetry and silhouette clearly, and they are the hardest place to read depth, which makes them good for practicing foreshortened limbs.

Drawing tips

  • Use the center line of the torso to show which way the body turns, even in a near-frontal pose.
  • Limbs pointing at the viewer shrink: overlap the forms instead of drawing their full length.
  • Compare shoulder and hip heights; a perfectly level front view looks stiff.

Practice these poses on a timer, 30 seconds to 10 minutes each.
