73 poses

Everyday full-body poses: standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, lying down, leaning, arching and twisting. Each mannequin is drawn from the front, three-quarter, side, high and low angles, so you can study how a whole figure balances and foreshortens.

Drawing tips

  • Start with the line of action, one curve from head to supporting foot, before adding any limbs.
  • Find what carries the weight (feet, knees, hips or hands) and check that the center of gravity sits over it.
  • Compare the shoulder line and hip line: in relaxed poses they tilt in opposite directions.
